OVF（Open Virtualization Format）普及の始まりとバーチャルアプライアンスの課題
主要な仮想化ベンダが集まる団体 DMTF（Distributed Management Task Force） による仮想化ファイルフォーマットの標準規格「 OVF（Open Virtualization Format） が発表されたのは、今年の3月23日でした。 ハイパーバイザーのOVF対応が進む OVFによって、ヴイエムウェアのVMwareでも、マイクロソフトのHyper-Vでも、サン・マイクロシステムズのxVMでも、どの仮想化ベンダのハイパーバイザ上でも動作する仮想化ファイルの作成が可能になると、以前のエントリ「 仮想化の新標準「OVF」登場、OSなんてどうでもよくなる、かも 」で書きました。これによって、いわゆるバーチャルアプライアンスが普及するのではないかと予想しています。 OVFはすでにVMware、xVMなどが対応を開始し、またシトリックスは「 プロジェクトKensho（見性） 」でXenのOVF対応に取り組んでおり、今後も主要なハイパーバイザでの対応が広がる見通しです。 一方で、パッケージソフトウェアがOVF形式で提供される例も登場しはじめました
